Temporary tattoos were initially a side gig for Taiwanese-born John Yuyi. Today, they’re what she’s best known for. The prints take parts of our digital personas and confront them with flesh, like pasting a model’s Tinder profile across her face. The images are then posted on Instagram to Yuyi’s 100,000-plus followers, furthering the play on identity. Her distinct styling has also led to partnerships with brands like Gucci. Their collaboration, which the New York City-based artist told Forbes “combined high fashion and more subculture and internet culture,” went viral. Yuyi’s first solo show was in late February 2018.
